    End - Down

I am looking for a tip here:

All the time working in Excel, I am copying formula's down through hundreds of rows. In order to action this I

    1. Starting from the cell I am going to copy, I then
    2. Go to the next continuous, unbroken, column of data
    3. Select end & down
    4. Go back across to the column I am filling
    5. Input a period / full stop, " . "
    6. End up (takes me back to the original cell to be copied.
    7. Select Copy (Ctrl-C),
    8. End & Down
    9. Enter.

Is there a quicker way of doing this ?

I seem to remember from Lotus 1-2-3, from 20 odd years ago, this was alot easier.

(Whilst, we are there, as a quick one: in 1-2-3, I could have a cell on a page whose content was visible, but would not print because (from memory) I have put a "|" at the start of the cell. Can I do this at all in Excel ).

    Thanks

Grab the handle bar in the cell with the mouse, then drag the formula down
The handle is in the right bottom corner of the cell,
place the mouse curser there until it turns into a +,
left click on the corner and drag the formula down

Actually, thanks for the input, but that is not what I am asking. (unless I misunderstand somehow what you are saying )

You seem to have described how I copy cells using the mouse.

I am asking how I quickly find the end of a column of empty cells without going through the process that I described.

Say for instance, I am working with a table of data that is say 38323 rows deep.
I transform the data in one column, and recalculate the data in another column, then insert a third column, into which I want copy a new formula, down to the bottom of the 38323 lines.

End-down (in the new and almost) empty would take me to line 65536. What I would do in this case, is take the End-Down option, then step across to the next column (which has pre-existing data in it, ending at row 38823) and select End-up, this way I hit the bottom of the column of data, hopefully at lines 38323.

Intensive data users don't generally use mice, they are too slow and imprecise. But if you have a solution that involves a mouse, I am up for it.

Thanks again for your reply. I appreciate it.
