Reading / Writing to files

Hello,

Is there a way to put a formula in a cell, that retrieves data from the hard drive?
I need to read a file which is constantly changing on the disk, so when I open the excel I want to get the updated info.

Is the file you are referring to an Excel file on your hard drive or some other kind of file?
