Data import from one Excel to another does not honor column headers

I am using a data import from one Excel workbook to another.

Data -> Import External Data -> Import Data -> Select External Excel Source -> All default values include 'first row is column header'

The Import is replacing some of my headers with things like:

    NonName, NoName1, F4, F5, F6...

Sometimes it keeps the column headers, but mostly it is replacing them with jibberish.

I am using Excel 2002. Any ideas?

You say you're using data import from one excel workbook to another. Is that really the case or is the data in a .csv / .txt / .prn file?

If it really is a workbook, why don't you simply copy and paste the appropriate data?

If it's a .csv file, do you recognise any of the XL column headers in the original .csv file?
