Hello There,
I am using MS Excel 2003 with XP Home SP2 and have been working with an Excel workbook since January 2008 and from last week began having difficulty opening the file. Whenever I attempt to open it, I get an error window with the following messages shown in bold below:
Excel found unreadable content in 'filename.xls'. Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook? If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes
When I click yes I get another error window with the message shown in bold font below:
Errors were detected in 'filename.xls,' but Microsoft Office Excel was able to open the file by making the repairs listed below. Save the file to make these repairs permanent.
Damage to the file was so extensive that repairs were not possible. Excel attempted to recover your formulas and values, but some data may have been lost or corrupted.
When I close this second error window, the workbook opens with all the formulas and data correct, but all the formatting; color, dates and percentages are lost.
If I start over with a blank workbook, enter each month's data and open the file at intervals it will work fine. However, as I continue adding data, it eventually gets to the point where this error window comes up and the problem resurfaces.
Could it be that the workbook has too much data? The file size is only 3.54MB. My PC has 504 MB RAM and 51 GB free HD space.
Can anyone give me some help with this problem?
Thanks
