    warning message -- update queries

When I open an XLT I created, I get the warning message of the sheet containing queries to external data and asking whether the user accepts or not automatic update.

The problem seems to come from a pivot table I have in my XLT. Yet this pivot table only contains data from the same sheet. I have no external reference that I can see.

    Any clue?

Any way I can somehow find out whether and where there are external references?

The file I have been working on is manage by Office-on-the.net. Could it be that some of the check-in/out processes could create such an external link somewhere?

Have you checked all the other sheets for external links. Select all the cells and do a find on the "[" character which is the character in front of another workbook.

Is it possible that you've got some icons or other drawing/picture objects which might refer to a macro in another book. This has tripped me up in the past when I've been unable to find any formulae links.

    worked around

    thank you Richard,

I check all that and could not find anything. I did however fix the problem without having understood the source:

    - I did a SAVE AS of the template under different filename,
    - was asked whether windows was to save external links
    - answered No

done. But still have no clue where the links / queries are....

If you want to upload the original template I'll take a look to see if I can see where the links are.

In the past I've also selectively deleted a sheet at a time, each time saving immediately with a temporary name, closing the book and immediately re-opening to see whether the message about update extenal links is still there. Eventually you come to the situation where the book opens without asking about external links, and you know the last sheet you deleted is the source of the problem. Then it's just a matter of examining that in fine detail.

    Richard,

Thank you for proposing. Here the file. I would love to know where the problem is.

The trial and error method you suggest is the first thing I did, which led me to believe the problem lies in the pivot table.

I also suspect a range of named cells 'Transactions' (which shows under file/properties/content). I have no clues where this range comes from. Maybe again from the MS office-on-the.net serve check-in/out.

    thx,
    jm
