search and count based on multiple criteria

Hey,

I am looking at a list of about 4000 telephone numbers and need to search for multiple numbers and count the number of ocasions they are listed.

I tried =countif(I2:I4550,"number1, number2, number3......)

but this clearly isnt right, can anyone help me on this??

Oh and each numner is prefixed with ' . eg '0778892 so that the 0 shows.
