    Grey column hiding view of workbook

    Anytime I open a spreadsheet, new or otherwise, this is what I see (see link). I have found instances where others have mentioned a similar problem on the web but none of those cases have solutions listed. Is anyone here familiar with what might be causing this?

    Couple of things you can try, look to see if Split Panes is being used found under WINDOW on the toolbar or Freeze panes, you can also look under the DATA heading and check that Group and Outline is turned off, or VIEW Custom Views and make sure a custom view isn't selected, failing that if you are running Excel xp or 2003 then you can save the attached file as it is (don't change the name) on your desktop then open it and close it then see if yours is any better, the file below is Excels base file.
