Exclamation Preventing pasting into cells but allow typing

I have a spreadsheet with lots of validation, and want users to type the entries or select from a drop-down. How, despite having explained it carefully to them all, do I prevent them pasting information into the spreadsheet from another one that they have created as this destroys al the validation etc?

One way to do it is to protect the sheet and allow only for those cells to have values coming only from the drop down (no typing)...

Cant think of any other way. If you allow for inputing cell manually, it will allow for pasting also.

Only problem is that I have to allow typing in some cells as it is being used as a sort of database with text input because the employer does not have a database and existing data has to be updated on a regular basis in a text format. Also for example I need to produce stats using the name of an individual as the basis but even if I use a drop-down the information gets overtyped when the silly Bs paste in all their data!
