    Calculate minutes

    Can you tell me how to subtract minutes on an Excel
    spreadsheet?
    We have just completed a time study of clinical flow and I wanted to set
    up the results on a spreadsheet that will automatically calculate
    minutes
    spent on each function. I know how to subtract minutes IF we were to
    round the minutes to nearest 15 minutes and use fractions rather than
    time, which is how we do it in payroll. However, I want exact minutes
    for this study.

    How are the cells formatted where your initial entries are? You need to enter them as hr:min or hr:min:sec. You can format your difference as [mm] or [mm]:ss. See attached. Does this help?
