    Excel defined names

Does anyone know how to keep excel from propagating its "defined names"?? I have several that are doing this.
    Example: amatwccounters

    Duplicates to
    amatwccounters
    amatwccounters_1
    amatwccounters_2
    amatwccounters_3
    amatwccounters_4
    amatwccounters_5
etc... to oblivion until the sheet stops working....

Eventually I need to go in & delete all the proagated names one by one. It can take a lot of time. that's why I want to stop it in the first place.

I may have misread your question. Macros run on a windows scheduler service. I am really doing nothing other than launching the spreadsheet 12 times per day. Sorry for the confusion.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep the defined names from propagating?
