    Conversion question

    Hi guys
    Each time i try to fill a cell with a decimal number it converts automatically to a date type.So actually there s no way i can enter a decimal number into the cells.How do i disable it,what do i do not to have this happen again?

    Your cell is probably formated as a date. Go to "format" "cells" and choose the format you want. (number)

    when i change the format,let say to a number then for any decimal number i input i get a number such as 35798,34567......
    Is there any way i can reset the settings?
    I dont think i had this problem before

    Excel reads each day as 1, so adjusting the format of numbers it has read as a date to decimal gets you the serial number for that day. You'll have to re-enter the data after the format change.
