    Open Hyperlink in New Window

Hey guys and gals. I'm new here, so hopefully I'm putting this in the correct section.

I have created an excel document that is then "saved as webpage". Part of the spreadsheet includes a hyperlink to another internet location. I publish the webpage to the internet and open it in an internet explorer browser.

By default the link created in excel opens in the same window. I want to be able to change the hyperlink settings/properties to open the link in a new window. Microsoft Access gives you the option of changing the hyperlink properties in the hyperlink dialogue box. Excel does not offer this as an option.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to open the link created in excel in a new window?

    Good morning new jack

    ...and welcome to the forum!!

When you save a file as a webpage, you are simply creating a .html file. Excel doesn't have great support for .html, so you are going to have to use a web page design package to alter the particular link. For example, FrontPage allows you set a whole manner of how the new link will open. If you don't have a web page design package, you can edit the .html file through a text editor - if you are going to do it this way, shout out and I'll try and help out with the syntax.

On the other hand you might just think it's too much of a faff and not bother

    Hi,

You can do it using a very simple VBA code.

Please Login or Register to view this content.
Assign this macro to an autoshape and everytime you click it, it will go to the adress you want in a new window.
