I have a simple forumla in cell A4. It is (A1-A2)+A3. Lets say I call this formula plus. Formula minus would be (A1+A2)-A3. I can create a drop down for the plus, minus. But what would add the formula in A4 to check if A5 has plus or minus and calculate accordingly?

If the dropdown is putting the string "+" in A5, this should work
=A1 + (2*(A5="+")-1)*(A3-A2))
which is a differnt form of
=A1 + IF(A5="+",A3-A2,A2-A3)
