How to stop text to columns automatically parsing

I used Text to Columns to parse data. However, when i try to add new lines to the spreadsheet, into column A so that i can then parse out manually using Text to Columns again, it wants to automatically manipulate the data.

I just 'pasted' the data into Column A, but for some reason, Excel keeps parsing it based on what i parsed previously.

How can i get Excel to stop parsing with just a 'paste' command?

(i want to be able to parse it out each time i paste, if i could get the pasted data to stay in one column).

    Any help is greatly appreciated...

    Hello mystic342005,

I am unable to duplicate your problem. Can you post the steps you took from the beginning? What version of Windows and Excel are you using?

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

I copied lines from a text file and then pasted into new workbook into column A. I used 'text to columns' to parse the data across the columns placing them starting in column b.

    That worked fine.

Then, i tried to paste more lines into column A so i could manually parse them using 'text to columns' but when i pasted the data into column A, it automatically parsed the columns across. I need to be able to tell it what columns to skip, along with making a couple of them 'text'.

How can I get Excel to stop parsing the data when just using a simple 'paste' command?
