    I am tryin to help the Maintenence Corrdinator here at our company with a lil problem, I have attached a copy of what we use right now to keep up with daily work orders on machines But im tryin to figure out a way to have a single drop box with machine numbers selectible then a drop with diff time choices to choose from and have excel auto sum the daily down time ofr the week and the entire month automatically. Any help would be great and Thank you.

    Here's an example of Dependent dropdowns which is what I believe you are asking for. Look at the data validation for each cell to get an idea of what is going on.

    Hi Again Husa,

    I looked more closely at your file and it looks like I was wrong and you're not looking for dependent dropdowns.

    Here's what I think you are asking for;
    1. That the equipment ID in column A can be chosen from a list (dropdown box) and that the description or name be automatically entered after chosing the part number.
    2. That the downtime for that equipment can be chosen from a list (dropdown).
    3. That there is a table with each part number or description and in that table, the total down time for that part is summed.

    Is that what you want?

    Yes Sir, dropbox to select part number, next cell auto fill with description of part, next a dropbox with time selections, then just a monthly sum of all down time for each part. This way when maintenence goes to PC and runs this they will be able to click a dropdown box to select what they have downtime on, then select amount of time, 15 min too 8 or 10 hrs, that the machine was down. then be able to go back later and select any parts recently modified and view only its down time for the month to make presentations and such. Thank ya a million Chemist

    How's this look to you? On the first sheet, the operator (?) has the pull down menus and inputs the downtime. The second sheet is the masterlist with the total downtime.

    Okay, you may want to unlock columns A, B and D on the first sheet and protect both worksheets so that formulas are not accidently overwritten.
    Good luck with it.
