    addition problem with blank cells

I have a question. I've been using the SUM function to add various cells in my worksheet, however whenever I encounter 2 blank cells, excel sums them to be a zero and I need them to remain blank. Is there a way to tell excel that is the two cells are zero then its ok to sum them to zero, but if they are both blank to make the sum blank as well?

    Hi,

    =IF(AND(ISBLANK(A1),ISBLANK(B1)),"",SUM(A1:B1))

will return a blank cell so long as both the cells are blank
    Rule 1: Never merge cells
    Rule 2: See rule 1
