picking out data from a worksheet.

I hae searched and couldn't find anything that suited what I was after. Let me explain.
I have a work sheet with various columns. The ones I am looking to pick from are.

    D and E
Column D contains names. eg, rod, jane and freddy.
there's about 50 different names, occurring randomly to about 2000 rows.
column E has critera. The criteria are:-

    To Test
    Awaiting Customer
    Diagnose
    Awaiting Spares
    No Fault Found
    No Repair OWW

So what I wanted to do in a separate worksheet is to look in column D and see what names occurr and display them once. So if freedy showed twice, rod showed 20 times, jane showed 11 times,
    It would simply display
    freddy
    rod
    jane

In the column next to it, it would count how many of each criteria 1, next column= next criteria.

    eg:
Freddy diagnose 0, awaiting spares 3, diagnose 4
and do that for each name.

I've been fiddling with vlookup, hlookup, match and a whole hose of other formulae and come up with a total sum of nothing.

    Is this possible?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    André

Just to add. The criteria will be exactly the same as I listed them above and in that order. Only going from left to right like this.

    A b c d e f g
Name To Test Awaiting Customer Diagnose Awaiting Spares No Fault Found No Repair OWW

Maybe a pivot table would be the easiest

    See links for examples
