slow when selecting look in box in excel

Running excel 2002 sp3. I click file, open, then select pull down arrow for the look in dialog box, when selecting the pull down arrow it takes 15 or 20 seconds for the pull down menu to open up. can anyone tell what to do to speed up this process?

Running norton nav and have scanned my system for viruses and spyware. nothing shows up.

    Hello jskamm,

You probably need to clear out your web browser cache files, temp files, etc. and then do a Defrag on your disk. If you haven't done this for while, it would be a good idea to defragment your registry as well. This feature isn't provided as part of the standard disk tools. You have to buy a program too do this. They run about $40 to $60, and are worth the investment. You should schedule a Disk Check to run next time you reboot. These can take a while to run, but can discover corrupted files that may exist in the system, and correct them.

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross
