    Random selection of multiple rows with two defined categories

    Hi,

    I have 30000 entries submitted by people. All these entries are registered by eldest member of family in his name and they are from 17 different states with 7 level of financial status type. I need to select specified no. (different nos. in each state with each type) of entries from each state with each type. How can i achieve this in excel.

    Hi,
    Try going to data=>filter=>auto filter,
    arrows will show on the worksheet, click on an arrow and select what you want to filter

    Specified no. of rows means, I need to select X no. of rows from State1 with financial income bracket of 20K-30K out of total 30000 entries.

    E.g.
    Total entries 30,000, with each entry having detail of Survey Agency (total 3 agencies), State (total 17 states) and financial income bracket (total 7 brackets) defined.

    In Agency 1 survey for state 1 has total 1077 entries with different no. of entries falling in 7 different financial brackets. I need to select randomly 16+2+1+43+7+14+7=90 entries out these 7 financial brackets.

    Hope this explains
