Match a single deposit to seperate transactions

hi, im working on a financial bankstatement where there are deposits and a whole ton of smaller transactions. at the day's end all smaller transactions are totalled and then deposited.

example:

1 | $1,366.93 | Deposit
2 | $980.40 | Batch6302
3 | $103.05 | Batch1548
4 | $283.48 | UMC5387
5 | $100.00 | LB48789


what i want is for Excel to tell me that A2:A4 = A1

i'm rather new to this is that a decent explanation?

I don't understand your example. How do you know that A1:A4 get added (but not A5) and compared to A1. How do you determine deposits and withdrawal's? Are you putting all of the amounts (+ and -) in the same column and using labels like the ones in Col-B?
