    conditional formating to another worksheet

I have run into the limitation of "cannot use conditional format to another worksheet or workbook" soes anyone know a way around this.. I really need to match one sheet to another and highlight those cells that do not match..

    Thank you Randy

You possibly need VBA, what are the conditions??

Thank you for your response.. I have a sizable report that is sent in each week from anothor source.. that needs to be put into a usable format... but also that source never indicates when there is a change so I want to keep a copy of the previous weeks report and then on the new weeks report highlight those items they have changed.. it is a simple conditional formating item but it will not let you go to another worksheet..

    Thank you

You can refer to other sheets within conditional formatting if you use defined names.

For example. Assume you have data in sheet2!A1:Z100 and you want to compare with the identical range in sheet1 and highlight anything different.

Use Insert > Name > Define to name sheet2!A1:Z100 as range2 then, in sheet1 select that same range and apply conditional formatting with the formula

    =A1<>INDEX(range1,ROW(A1),COLUMN(A1))

Another method would be to copy all the data in one sheet into the other and compare them within one sheet
