    Holiday accrual calculations

    Hi

In month 1 the employee has accrued 2 days holiday. Also in the month the employee has worked 20 days.

So in my worksheet I have days 1-31, then I have total days worked (which can be added easily), I then have holiday accrued for the month, then holidays taken in the month, then I have total days remaining.

Is there a way of putting 1 for a day worked and 'H' for a days holiday, therefore adding all of the 1's to give days worked but deducting 'H' from holiday days taken?

This is my first post so please forgive me if it has been asked before.

    Thanks,

    Phil

Can you post an example...perhaps a zipped xl2003 or earlier file?

So are you looking for a formula to put in AK4?

    If so, try: =COUNTIF(B4:AF4,"H")

    Hi

I am looking for a formula to put in AL4. Something along the line of =IF B4:AF4=H then sum of H to put in AK4 then subtract this from AJ4.

    Is this possible?

    I really appreciate your help.

Well, that is basically what I supplied.

My formula put in AK4 counts the number of H's in the range B4:AF4.

Then your current formula in AL4 justs subtracts that result from the figure in AJ4.

If you really want a different formula in AL4, then =AJ4-Countif(B4:AF4,"H") would do it.
