Hi y'all,
How can one change the default text qualifier in excel spreadsheets. I don't care if it's done on saving (to text format), or if it's while working.
Thanks.![]()

Not sure you can change the settings but you could create a macro
What settings do you need and I'm sure someone will help

Hi,
Thanks for responding. I work with an online db and the office uses excel for everything. We can import an excel sheet when saved as tab delimited, but the default text qualifier (") causes problems. I've tried washing the sheets before u/l, but that causes other problems because some things (expressions, js, fonts - some sites don't use CS yet, etc.) need quotation marks around them. So, if I wash the sheet for quotation marks, I have to go back in and manually add them back (in certain instances) before u/l. (Note: Still have problems when replacing double quotations in the sheet with singles, because it doesn't get rid of all troublemakers then).
If I could use an asterisk or something else for a text qualifier, it would greatly simplify my job (and file washing).

Turn on the macro recorder and record your actions and post back
Remember to wrap the code. See rules below
