Excel startup?

Hi,

When I start Excel I automatically get a gridded blank spreadsheet. I have tried changing the shortcut to include /E on the end of the path. That didn't work. Also, when I launch a shortcut to an existing spreadsheet it opens a blank book1 as well as the spreadsheet I wanted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wanted Excel to come up with the blank grey screen not automatically open a spreadsheet. Also, when I open an existing spreadsheet from a shortcut that is the ONLY thing that I want opened not a blank book1. Any ideas??

Tools > Options > General, At startup, open all files in: -- anything in that box?

I tried the /E target. No luck. I still get a blank spreadsheet.

My installation doesn't do this, and I'm not sure if the switch above will cure that for you - I don't know of any other setting that will sort this out for you. Try the above and post back what happens.

Are there files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\XLStart\ (where the 'Office11' part depends on your version of Excel)?

Even if there were, they shouldn't open with the /e option. Maybe time to do Detect and Repair.
