Error- xl prompting to installation CD in order to complete installing the add

Somehow, a friend (really) of mine has managed to get Excel into a mode where it apparently thinks that an add-in is required, or has been requested. Normally, this would not be too much of a problem, but we cannot locate the CD for the installation (the system is a Dell Presario 1500 notebook). It is prompting us for the installation CD in order to complete installing the add-in. We can eventually work around this by cancelling several times, but it would sure be nice to not have to bother with this. Is there any way we can stop this (or maybe even at least determine what add-in it's looking for)?

In Excel, go to TOOLS--ADD-INS. Check if any of the add ins are checked off. If so, uncheck them.

Report back if that works.
