Paste Special Function

I am copying rows of cells from another spreadsheet and trying to paste the information into another using Paste Special | Values. Instead of getting the proper screen to use paste special, I am getting a dialouge box asking if I want to paste it as a Microsoft Excel Worksheet, Picture, Bitmap, Biff5, Biff4, etc. Am I doing something incorrect. I only want to paste the rows into existing spreadsheet but I don't want to change the format. Thanks for any help.

Save and close one of the excel sheets, go to the other excel window and press CTRL-O to open the other sheet from there.


It seems as if you have TWO seperate instances of Excel.exe open. Not two files running in One excel.
