difference between prices

Hello everyone I have a question that I really do need help on. Im new to excel and have come across this question.

I have to prices that I need to find the difference between in percentage

price 1: 640,000
price 2: 133,000

How can I work out the differance in percentage. i.e there is a 9% difference between the two prices
Please Please help I'm really stuck on this one.

I assume that the numbers you quote are just random examples because there is no way that 640,000 and 133,000 can yield 9%!
Anyway; the first thing to decide is what quantity to you want to compare the difference with? price 1 or price 2?

Thus the difference is (100*(640,000-133,000)/640,000)% of price 1
(i.e. just over 79%)
but it is (100*(640,000-133,000)/133,000)% of price 2
(ie about 381%)

Select the Help option from the Excel toolbar
then "Microsoft Excel Help"
then type in percentage in the "search for" box and click the arrow.

Yeah they were examples how would you write that as a formula and also which one would you use
