    Decimal Problem

    Hello,
Im driving myself nuts trying to figure this out....I have a data table that is fine for the y axis however the numbers for the x axis are very small such as .002 etc......but when it appears on the graph it says 2000!!! I dont get it...I messed with the fixed decimal option.....that did nothing.....any help would be great!!!

    thanks

Click on the axis, right click > Format Axis > Scale tab, and adjust it there.

    Hello there,

It’s not exactly clear what you are trying to achieve from the information given. But if you can provide a small zipped sample of your data, then hopefully a solution can be found.

To post a zipped example, go to “My Documents” or wherever you have your file stored, right-click and “Send to > Compressed file”, then attach this zipped file to your post.

Looks fine to me when I plot strain vs stress. See attached.

The numbers on that graph are correct....however the axis are backwards now.....Stress MUST be on the Y axis...and Strain MUST be on the X axis......the graph is upside down in your clip....

    Thanks

    Hi,

Highlight column D, and cut, then paste into column F. Then run the chart wizard.

All I did was edit the series to reverse the order of appearance of columns D and E.

THANK YOU!....I went into series at the beginning of the chart wizard and highlighted all the strain data and put it into the x axis setting......and it finally worked!!!...Im not sure why I had to do that but either way now I know if I have that problem again....Its been a while since I've used Excel and i needed some major brushing up...This forum is great

    Thanks
