Changle Font Colour of a Row using Conditional Formatting

    Hi,

I'm currently trying to use conditional formatting to change a colour of the font in a row.

For example if you put a certain word into cell A1 it will change the colour of the text to green in cells A1 to A5. Just wondering how this can be done?

Select A1 to A5 then place this formula into CF

    =$A1="Your Text"
format as required. Change Your Text to your criteria

    VBA Noob

:S Errm it works a little, but not 100%.

OK let me try and show you how I've tried it so far, see where I'm going wrong. First off in cell I 39 I want to be able to put in either Sick, Holiday or absent. If the cell has Sick in it, I want it to turn cells A39 to I39 green. Currently when I try the two ideas above they don't seem to work, one of them just turns the text green with or without the word SICK in there.

this is what I've tried in the code.

    Hi Madball,

    In cell A39
    conditional formatting =$A$39 = "sick"

    In cell A40
conditional formatting =$B$39 = "sick" and so on.

should be entered one by one in each cell.

Maybe there's a better way to do this.

OK I've tried those two ways and again it doesn't seem to work

This is exactly what I'm doing

    1) Selecting cells A39 to I39.
    2) Going to Format > Conditional Formatting
    3) Changing the first section to "Formula is"
    4) putting =$A39="Sick"
    5) Clicking the Format Button and changing the Font colour to green.
    6) Clicking OK and then typeing in cell I39 the word Sick and nothing happens.

I've also kept the first option as "Cell Value is" "Equal to" and it doesn't work.

You're doing everything right except, if you're going to have "Sick" in I39 you need the formula to reflect that. Change to

    =$I39="Sick"
