    Custom formatting question

    Hello
I'm wondering if it is possible to change the custom formatting of cell based the value of another cell.
This is my exact situation. I have a dropdown menu where the user can pick "metric" or "imperial". Depending on which is picked I want to format some cells to have a custom format of 0.0"mm" if cell c1 is "metric" and 0.0"in" if cell c1 "imperial".

    thank you

I'm not sure that you can...

You can however use an If() formula to display the unit of measure alongside the numeric value... e.g. =if(C7="metric",A1&"in",A1&"m") where A1 contains the numeric value

the only thing is that this cell cannot be used as is in formulas needing it for evaluation purposes unless you manipulate it further with other formulas.....
Where there is a will there are many ways.
