automatically set to manuel calculation by closing a file

    Dear all,

here is my strange problem: More than one excel file are opened and "automatic calculation" is set. However, every time I close one excel file, the setting will be automatically changed to "manual calculation".

This happens even if I open 2 blank excel files and close one!

I use excel 2003 and windows XP. Maybe someone could help! Thanks a lot!

    Regards, Zheting

    Hello ztjin,

You probably need to reset the workbook calculation option.
Go to Tools > Options... This will bring up the Options Dialog. Select the Calculation tab and look for the round button labeled Automatic. Click this to set Excel back to automatic calculation mode. Click OK when you are done.

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

    thank you for your reply.

Actually I'm doing this all the time. Is there a way to avoid Excel changing my setting automatically?

Someone may have added a macro to that workbook to always turn it off

check ThisWorkbook and each sheet module. See link on where to look
