    Referencing a formatted cell

I created a formula which returned a number with three decimal places. I formatted that cell to round to the whole number (0 decimal places). I then tried referencing that whole number in another formula. However, it's using the entire number (all 3 deciaml places), not the whole number like I was hoping.

How can I get around this or fix it?

    Thank you!!!

In the formula where you are referencing the other cell, put ROUND(cell_ref,0). This will round up or down depending on the decimal value. To force up or down rounding, use ROUNDUP or ROUNDDOWN instead.

Brian, formatting a cell doesn't change its value, just its appearance. Tuph's got you on the right track.

Formatting doesn't change the value in the cell, only how it's displayed. You may want to use ROUND function within your original formula, which will then change the actual value rather than just the display
