enter the data in one cell it transmits the change to other cells

I am working on a group of excel sheets and i need help with a formula.
What I am looking to do is have a formula that when i enter the data in one cell it transmits the change to other cells. Now this in and of it self is fairly simple, here is the part im having trouble with.
I want the values to stay correct across the multiple sheets no matter how they are sorted. So if i sort sheet A for one specific value, be it name or whatever the sheets that pull data from that sheet will keep the correct values from the cells they are pulling from, even if it changes from cell A2 to cell A54 or whatever. can this be done?

    Thank you all in advance

    Hello Jmesser,

Your in deep with this one. I may be possible, but it would be impractical to use even if it could be done. All cell references within the formulae of the workbook would have to edited.

The lesson to learn from this is to plan ahead, and seek the advice of experts before starting a project. There are many other tools available to solve worksheet problems: VBA macros, Pivot tables, API calls, and OLAP are few of the other tools that can make your life easier. With these news groups, there are plenty of people to help implement them. Use your resources effectively.

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

Im not worried about having to edit each of the cells if i can get it to work correctly. If someone can give me the formula I am more then willing to take the time to edit each needed cell.

    Hello Jmesser,

There is no formula, macro, or Wizard to do this. Your only option at this point is to manually edit the cells. You may want to consider restructuring your workbook for the future.
