What is the fucntion for separating words into different cells?

    Hi,

I have a line of text that looks something like this: name number# number# comment.

There is a space between each word. I want each word to be in separate cell. I remember there was a way of telling excel to separate words into cells when it sees a space between them. Could someone refresh my memory please!

    Thank you

There is no "function" of the form =FUNCTION(TEXT,instance) for splitting a text string into its individual words!
In fact I am always baffled by how difficult such a seemingly obviously required facility is to achieve using the standard TEXT functions in EXCEL.

It is possible, but only by using very awkward combinations of MID() and FIND().

Unless someone out there has devised a clean and simple method I haven't thought of?

What EXCEL needs is a function of the form:

    =WORD(OldText,DelimiterText,Instance)

    Mark.
