    Stock control

    Hi
im using a spreadsheet for a stock control system ( i know i should be using access but the EPOS system we have exports in excel format )

i have a stock list with stock number description stock level and stock amount ....... when the EPOS system exports the weekly sales i want to copy it into a sheet and have it minus the stock levels using the stock code and amount sold .

any ideas how i would do this ?

Do you need a record of your changes? If not you could pu the sales on a seperate sheet, then you could on a seperate sheet take the sales away from the stock levels for each category, then copy and paste them as values to make this permanent. The danger of this approach is if you do the same thing twice.

the other approach is to past the sales data below the intial stock data, and susing sumif functions to remove subract the total sales for each category from them stock levels. If this was the appraoch when new stock was delivered it would be the vloume of stock that had arrived that would be added to the table and not the new stock level that was added

Why not attach a small sample spreadsheet of what you want to do

    Regards
