Protectiong Cells

    Protectiong Cells

    Please see the attached spreadsheet.

    I am having problems finguring out how/WHY? the cells that are locked still allow editing after I have protected the sheet.??/ why... oh why??


    I apprieicate any help on this.

    You appear not to have protected the sheet. If you protect the sheet, it then works just fine.

    Sorry I need to clarrify...

    Please protect the spreadsheet and notice that when you select cells A2 or A3 that you can still change the contents. Also notice that when you unprotect the cells and check to see if they are locked they are... I have tried unlocking them individually plus tried the entire sheet... anyway let me know if anyone needs further clarrification or has different results, than I.

    If you go to Tools -> Protection -> Allow Users to Edit Ranges, you'll see that a range has been defined as A2:A3. So even with protection, that range can be edited by users. Remove that entry and you should be all set.
