Data Validation

Hi,

I would be most grateful if someone could offer some advice.

I need to set some kind of validation on columns to only except a 10 digit number and nothing else. For example if a 9 or 11 digit number is added an error message is displayed. Is this possible.

Go to Data|Validation and select Text Length from the Allow list. Then choose Equal to from the Data drop down and then enter 10 in the Length field.

Click Ok.

Note: You can create Input and Error messages with Data|Validation to guide the user.

This may seem picky, but....what do you consider a 9-digit number?

Must it be 100000000 thru 999999999?
or
is this range ok: 000000000 thru 999999999
or...
can it contain decimal places, like 123.45678?
or
...what about negative numbers?

You see where I'm going, right?
