time question:convert into seconds

hi gents

i have a cell with a time which i would like to convert into seconds if anyone could tell me how to do this it would be greatly appreciated

for example i have a cell which says 4m 41.80s
and i want the spreadsheet to work this out for me in seconds ie 281.8s

Assuming 4m 41.80s is located in Cell A2:

=(LEFT(A2,FIND("m",A2)-1)*60)+MID(A2,FIND(" ",A2)+1,FIND("s",A2)-FIND(" ",A2)-1)

Adjust as necessary for other cells.

Equation assumes you keep the format :
numbers followed by "m " followed by numbers (with or without decimal fraction) followed by "s". i.e it automatically adjusts for decimal fractions and the number of digits.
