date formatted in text

Hi all,

I currently have a list of people and their dates of birth.

However the dates are in text ( 12 Oct 1966), I have tried to format them to date, but to no avail.

Is it possible to change all of the list using a simple formula to give a return of dd/mm/yyyy.

It sounds like you may need a helper column to fix this issue. Assuming the dates start in A1, use this formula:

=DATEVALUE(A1)

Then copy the formula down for all dates. Next, select all cells with this formula, select copy, the paste special > values. Finally, format the cells to the date format that you would like.
