    Alternate row colors

    How can I get excel to alternate row colors? For example, row one is white, row two is some light color, and this pattern should continue to make it easier to read the spreadsheet.

    Also, is it possible to get only rows a-d and rows g-k to to do this color sequence?

    For your specific case:

    1. Select columns A-D and G-K
    2. Click Format -> Conditional Formatting
    3. Select 'Formula Is'
    4. Type (or copy/paste): =MOD(ROW(),2)=0
    5. Click Format...
    6. Change the background color to the one you want on the Pattern tab
    7. Click OK twice.

    Tada!
