    Read Only and Refreshing

    Hi

I'm new to the forum and have had a search, but can't seem to find anything to answer my question, hope someone can help!

I have a spreadsheet that gets its information from an Access database. When the spreadsheet is opened it automatically refreshes itself with the latest data from the database. There are also various calculations in the spreadsheet and multiple worksheets.

Basically, I need to prevent anyone (but me) from being able to change anything in the spreadsheet but still have it refreshing when it's opened.

Any solutions would be gratefully received!

You need to look at the tools, protection, protect workbook options and/or a password to make the sheet read only , both can be given passowrds to prevent other people taking them off.

What is not clear is that if another user opens them and the data updates, if you wish to have this updated data save?

    Regards

    Dav

Hi, thanks for your quick reply.

Does it really matter if the updated data saves as it will update again when it's opened again (will it?!?!)

The spreadsheet just acts as a snapshot of information from the database and should only be viewed, not edited.

So if I protect the workbook and/or make the workbook read only, it will still update on opening?
