    Data Validation and using colour

Guys, I am trying to validate a cell in Excel.

The user can only put in R (Red), A (Amber) or G (Green) in the cell. I want the RAG to be coloured accordingly.

Any idea how I can do this?

    Many, many thanks.

    For restricting the values

Data>validation> list and then put in your data items separated by commas

    To colour the cell

Format>conditional format and then Cell Value = and select the daa item and format according to what you want.

You are limited to 3 conditional formats + a default format

Many thanks for the quick reply, but I'm still having probs.

I am trying to get the cell to only use R (Red) A (Amber) and G (Green).

I have tried to validate the cells by typing the list RAG (in those colours) on separate lines and selecting them

    Thanks

The file has been compressed using WinZip and will need to be de-compressed using WinZip before using in EXCEL
WinZip is a "standard" file compression method
