Problem opening Excel files

Hello everyone,

We have a problem here in the office one of our associates has issues opening excel files. The only way they open is by having excel open first then file/open/drive/select file. Double clicking of any file in any location opens up excel with a blank screen. Any suggestions?

I suspect that this is a windows problem rather than an excel problem.

I don't profess to be a windows expert, but I suspect that the file associations on your collegues computer has been corrupted somehow.

Any Windows experts out there that can solve this one?

This sounds like "Ignore other Applications" option is checked.

In excel Go to tools menu then Options and select the General Tab.

See if the "Ignore Other Applications" checkbox is checked, and if it is uncheck it.
