Can any1 help me figure out how to use the format of a cell in an = if statement.

    ex.
    =IF(F12="",$I$2,IF(E12="",IF(F12>D12,$J$2,$K$2),IF(F12>E12,$J$2,$K$2)))

i want it to copy the color format of cells I2, J2, and K2, not what the value of the cell is.

    any ideas?

Use conditional formatting, which is on the Format menu. In the dialog box, set the first condition to Formula is, enter your formula in the field, then clikc on add to add another condition. You can have up to 3 conditions on any 1 cell.

If you attach a sample of your workbook it will be easier to find a solution. Remember to remove/replace sensitive data before uploading the file. Look here if you need help with attachments:
