    Updating tables

    Hi All,

    I am new to this forum.

    I have a situation where in an excel dump file updates every day.
    Now I have been asked to use this file and create a report and send it out to the users once every week.

    My first question is how do i make sure that the file saved on my desktop updates with data every time there is an update to the original file, Do I have to write a macro, if so can you provide me an example. Please note that i have modified the file a lot when I saved it to my local machine and I am using this modified file to create my report. So I want this modified sheet to update when ever the original file gets new data.

    Secondly I am using this modified file to create a complex pivot table and the data in this table to needs to update when ever its source file (the modified file) updates with data.

    Any help is really appreciated. I am SQL/ORACLE/TERADATA/BO/BI developer and fairly new to this type of excel work.

    Hi Experts,

    Any help is really appreciated. It is a st forward situation, I have file I am manipulating to create pivot tables, my manipulated file needs to update when ever the parentfile updates and also my pivot tables should update.

    Please suggest. thanks in advance
