Question Mailing List organizing by STATE

I have a huge mailing list that I'm condensing and oragnizing for my company..

I want to organize it by state.. Call me a rookie but I can't figure out how to sort it according to state. The mailing list is already alphebetical by name.. how do I sort ALL the info by state...

    HELP!

    Hi,

assuming that your list is one line per item and contains the state in one column, then select AllData (left of the column A, and above the row number 1) (should highlight the whole sheet) and Data, Sort, tick Header row if you have one, and select the column with the state.
You can, optionally, select a second sort by name but that is already implied.

If you have more than one header row, then select whole rows to sort and follow as above.

Let me know how you go.

Excel will keep it in the sequence deliverd, thus you can sort over more than 3 keys, sort over keys 4 & 5, and then sort over keys 1, 2 & 3 to give a 5 key sort etc.

Good to see it worked for you, and thanks for the response.
