Spreadsheet Command Errors

I have a shared excel file that for some reason (did work ok!) when i am in it doesnt allow me to Save or do anything without getting the following error.....


"The file is locked. Try the command again later"

Can someone tell me a) what this means (beside the obvious) and b) how to resolve this??
