Lightbulb CSV File with over 1 Million Rows

    Hi,

Thanks in advance for the help. I have a CSV File and its size is appx 500 MB. When I open this file in Excel 2007, it gives me error message that file not loaded completely so I guess the file is having rows more than the maximum rows allowed in Excel 2007. I am a little confused as how to analyze the data because I am unable to open it. Can anyone please provide me any suggestion?

    Thanks,
    Vikas Bhandari

If your file has that many rows that it will not fit into Excel 2007 I recommend using a database program like Access

Thats what I tried earlier...I imported the file into Access but its taking too much time. Any idea, what is the limit for the number of rows in an access database? If I dont want to do anything programically...i can only import the data from CSV through import wizard?? Right?? Is it the right option to just import the CSV File in Access? or you find nything else a better way. Just to add more specifications, what you would have done if you face the same prob...

    Thanks,
    Vikas

There is no limit on how many rows of data that can be inported into Access.
There is a limit on how big the database file size can be. Size limit depends Access version, number of columns, number of rows, data type, queries, forms, macros & modules that are all part of the database.

For me I would be using Access in preference to Excel but without specifics of what you are try to analize it is hard to give a more explict answer

As this site is for Excel queries I can not give you a much more details on Access

Here are a couple of sites that deal with Excel & Access

    http://www.ozgrid.com/forum/

If you use either or both of them remember that they & us have the same rules about posting the same question on multiple sites - If you do you must provide a link to all the other threads on the other sites
