You guys will probably figure this problem out right away, but I can't seem to get excel to paste a number without changing the formula.

For example in cell C16 I have =average(B3:B6) the value is 4.2 when I copy the cell, click on E16 and paste, the formula changes to =average(D3:D6) and of course the value also changes (to 8.5)

I've tried "paste special" but I can't find an option that will work.

Can't I paste a value without the formula changing???
