Quick Scenario Based Question

Hi guys just your opinion to this kind of scenario.

Say you had a complex excel file (linked to other spreadsheets and updates itself based on others etc.)For e.g. if you opened a file on Tuesday, it would ask you if you wanted to update the data. You say yes then the spreadsheet opens with the udpated data. If you do a save as, it will save it with Tuesday's data. Then, if you open the "saved as" file on Friday, it will again ask you if you want to update the information in the file.

Is there anyway to just get it to save the data in an AS IS format so that it doesnt ask me to update the links again?

Altneratively, is there a way to turn off whatever makes the links active?

Im trying to move some files around but dont want to have to move all of the corresponding linked files around as all I require is that data from a particular day in the new server (in the saved as file).

try Tools, Options, Calculate and remove 'Update Remote References'.
